Colmore Food Festival ’16

A festival full of food? You’ll see me right there at the front of the queue!

Fortunately (for me) Opus are a part of the Colmore Business District amongst many more of Birmingham’s best bars, restaurants and cafes. The 2 day festival allowed people to sample dishes and drinks from 30 establishments, in the heart of Victoria Square.

This was the 6th Colmore Food Festival and Opus had the pleasure of sponsoring it featuring ‘The Opus Garden’. We served 3 dishes which celebrated our Beautifully British and Garden Fresh passion. To show the true flavours of Opus, we had a sample size of smoked haddock fishcake with poached hen’s egg – this is a classic dish, our most popular starter, which has been running for 11 years! We also offered a vegan heritage tomato gazpacho and a strawberry and clotted cream sponge. All dishes went down so well; many came back for seconds!


Bar Opus offered an innovative cocktail and wine list all made using Chase products. Chase also provided us with 2 Union Jack ‘Selfie Sofas’ and a jeroboam of vodka which was up for grabs as part of a competition. Guy Ilott from Chase also helped us out for the 2 day event, and was promoting new Chase products including their new guilt free ‘FitCorn’ – which was delicious.


The festival was a really fun way to promote the business and to show the true taste of Opus and an opportunity to meet and work with the Colmore BID neighbours. We saw many regulars and familiar faces who made their way to us on both days

Most of Team Opus managed to work one of the two stands to get a taste of the annual event. This year as we were sponsoring, we had branded t-shirts and tote bags; so you couldn’t miss us in the crowd!


We had a great time and can’t wait for next year!
