Opus leads the way on sustainability in Birmingham

Following our 2015 review by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), we have received our highest rating yet of 82% that has put us in the top 9% of SRA members and makes us the only independent restaurant group in Birmingham.

 Sarah Hepburn, sustainability champion at Opus said: “Our new rating is fantastic, achieving over 90% in six of the fourteen categories. Opus truly deserves this recognition, being sustainable is at the heart of the business and this achievement is a testament to our team’s passion and commitment over the last year.”

 We have been members of the SRA since 2012 and four years runningwe have achieved this highest accolade of ‘Three Star Sustainability Champion’. The SRA, a not-for-profit organisation awards its members with One, Two or Three Stars depending on how a restaurant rates against the three pillars of sustainability, ‘Society’, ‘Sourcing’ and ‘Environment’.  

 Sustainability in this industry is about managing a restaurants social and environmental impact and sourcing produce in the most ethical and sustainable way. All of our three venues share the same ethos of sourcing market fresh, free range and seasonal ingredients from around the British Isles.
